What is it like working in the build to rent sector?
“I have been working in this sector for over three years and have seen the number of developments grow in Leeds in recent years, with many more planned.
“My job is really rewarding and there is so much variety and always something to do, such as dealing with tenants, making sure the cleaning and maintenance is completed and generally checking that everyone is OK, particularly during lockdown when people were on their own. I really enjoy working with people which is a key part of this role.”
What is top of peoples lists when they look for a build to rent development?
“When people come and look at the development, they are always really impressed with the roof terrace and having outdoor space within the city. The on-site gym, which is included as part of the rent is also a real draw as there is no need to pay additional monthly subscriptions when it is all on site. Security is also high on the list for parents whose grown up children may be living away for the first time; the secure gated access and concierge gives them extra peace of mind.”
What sort of events do you arrange for residents?
“The community is an important element of Clarendon Quarter, and we arrange a lot of events for residents to come together and meet each other. Firm friendships are formed, and we get a lot of people renewing their contracts because they feel really settled. We have a range of events throughout the year including quiz nights and wine and cheese nights, and in the summer we put on a BBQ with a DJ and bar which is really popular.”
What would you say to someone looking for a build to rent development?
“Build to rent is really great option for anyone wanting to live in Leeds, and its particularly popular with the Millennials who are keen to move out of their parent’s home and don’t want to pay expensive rents in the city but love the fact that there are lots of facilities included in the development.
